Is an architect more expensive than a draftsperson / building designer?
The short answer is yes, but the comparison is different. A draftsperson is typically engaged to produce a set of technical drawings. An architect is engaged to design a lived experience and, more importantly, to manage the complex journey of realising it.
Our fee includes what many studios treat as "optional extras" – full interior design, landscape consideration, builder procurement, and construction administration. We don't just hand you a set of plans; we stay by your side until the day you move in. When you factor in the long-term value of a well-designed home and the protection of your family’s budget through professional oversight, the investment shifts from a "cost" to a safeguard.
I’m concerned a designed home will exceed my budget.
This us unfortunately common – we do things a little differently. Most budget blowouts happen because design is separated from construction logic for too long. At Architektura, we are systematic in our cost-testing.
We don't wait for a builder’s quote at the end of the process to tell us we've gone too far; we iteratively test the financial logic of the design at every milestone. We design to your reality, not our ego.
How involved will I be in the design?
Entirely. You are the primary driver of the brief. We don't believe in "the architect in the ivory tower." Your lifestyle, instincts, and daily rituals shape every volume and material choice. We run structured design sessions to ensure you own every decision we make together. We are your advocates and your partners; the home is yours, the responsibility to realise it is ours.
How long has Architektura been operating?
The practice is young. The experience is not. Architektura was founded in 2023, but our directors bring a combined three decades of experience from Tier 1 projects. We have steered city-shaping skyscrapers, major retail transformations, and award-winning hospitality venues to name a few.
We’ve taken the rigor required for those multi-million dollar institutional projects and applied it to the intimacy of residential design. You get boutique attention backed by institutional-grade discipline.
How do I know you’re the right designer for me?
Choosing an architect is a personal decision. You’re not just hiring someone to draw plans - you’re choosing a partner to help shape the place where you’ll live your everyday life.
The best way to know if we’re the right fit is a series of meetings and discussions. In our first meeting, we’ll listen carefully to how you live, what matters to you, and what you hope your home can become. We’ll also share how we work, how we approach design, and how we guide projects from early ideas through to construction.
